Use the scissors or pruning shears to cut stems from the stevia plant. Leave at least 4 inches of stem on the plant for new growth. Pull the leaves from each stem and place them on the drying screen. Don't pile them on top of one another because they need air to dry.
Place the drying screen in the sun. Set the edges on rocks or some support so air circulates under the screen and across the top; keep the leaves in sun until they dry.
Grind the leaves to a fine powder.
Pour 1 cup of water into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil.
Allow the water to cool until it is warm enough to touch with your finger.
Add 1/4 cup of stevia powder to the saucepan and stir the mixture until the powder dissolves.
Pour the liquid stevia into a jar with a tight-fitting lid and refrigerate it for at least 24 hours before using.
