LUDHIANA: Awareness regarding organic products is on a rise. Environment concious individuals are making all out efforts to purchase these products. But what does organic really mean? Organic products are completely natural commodities that do not contain any artificial or synthetic inputs.

Pallavi Jain, an MBA student at Punjab College of Technical Education, conducted the survey to check the mass appeal of organic farming in general and people's perception towards organic garments in particular. The survey on over 500 persons was done under the guidance of Cheenu Goel, a senior faculty member, during May to July.

The survey revealed that about 60% of the people found organic garments to be comfortable while many bought them just for the purpose of trying them. Organic clothes are about 20-30% costlier than the conventional clothes. The points of consideration like comfort, skin and environment friendliness, absorbance and softness work in the favour of organic garments that was supported by about 72% of the people. About 59% of the surveyed people felt that there were more promotional activities and distribution centres of conventional clothes in comparison to organic garments.
