Question Need guidance for problem in coconut trees

Hello,

I'm from Trinidad and Tobago, in the Caribbean and I've planted approximately 130 coconuts (yellow and green) short varieties. However, the trees are beginning to blossom and are now bearing fruits for the first time in about 4 years but most of the trees, the flower stalks are turning black and shriveling while the young coconuts are dropping off or not even appearing.

Is it a fungus or insect responsible and what can I do?

I had a similar problem with my coconut trees. when I checked with the experts, they advised me to spray 0.05% concentrated Neem Oil or its derivative on the fonds every 15 days for 6 applications, Apply NPK at the rate of 2Kgs per tree or 3Kgs fish meal per 6 months & water the palms at the rate of 200 Liters per day. I have done it & I notice that the fruit droping has dramatically reduced. Since you are on the coast, speak to your local agriculture expert as addressing your problem can be different. Good luck.
