Dr. Sanjay Kumar on "What is conservation agriculture? Concept, adoption and challenges"

Dr. Sanjay Kumar is the Associate Professor-cum- Senior Scientist at Bihar Agricultural University Sabour, Bhagalpur, Bihar

Conservation agriculture is gaining acceptance in many parts of the world as an alternative to conventional agriculture as it keeps the soil in high resilience state as well as maintains higher production levels. Many crop land soils of world have lost their soil organic carbon due to intense tilling continuously season after season which increased the soil fatigue and pushed the soil into low resilient state. Thus continuous conventional tilling of soil has reduced its production potential. Besides conserving the environment, CA also emphasizes on resource-saving and sustainable agricultural crop production. CA advocates practicing minimum mechanical soil disturbance which protect soil against erosion and other form of degradation.
