Dr. Anurag Saxena says that Ladakh produces 62% of apricot in India. It is a perishable fruit but has advantage as the harvesting time does not coincide with the main harvesting season of the world. It fetches premium price and good livelihood option for farmers of cold arid region. Every part of apricot fruit has economic value. Insufficient production and processing techniques coupled with disorganized market results in wastage of apricot fruit to the tune of 40 to 60%. The fruit contains several secondary metabolites for good human health. Apricot farming may become very profitable by post harvest processing. During this meeting, Dr. Anurag Saxena  will discuss regarding cultivation practices and post harvest processing options of the fruit.
