National Seed Association of India
About 200 seed companies are members of NSAI.
The 4 national seed associations, namely, AICBA, SAI, ASI and INSIA merged to form National Seed Association of India (NSAI). NSAI was registered as a Society in 2007. It has now become fully functional and has taken over all the responsibilities and functions of the 4 participating associations. There are about 200 seed companies who are members of NSAI.
The rules and regulations of NSAI enjoin that a seed company which is into any two of the activities involving research and development, production and marketing, can become a member of NSAI. “In other words, if the company is engaged only in one activity then it is disqualified automatically. There is, however, a lot of stress on research and development amongst the members of NSAI,” avers Mr. R.K Sinha, Director of NSAI. The organization has its head office in New Delhi.
Key Services Offered
The governing council of NSAI is elected at the Annual General Meeting by the members present at the AGM. The normal term of the GC is 2 years.
The key services being offered by NSAI are:
· Representing the industry at different foras
· Preparing position papers on different issues affecting the seed industry and taking up the matters with the concerned authorities on the basis of the position papers so prepared
· Working with the regulatory authority for the establishment of a regulatory regime conducive to the interest of the farmers and the industry without, in any way, harming the health of the environment, human beings and animals
· Working with the authorities concerned with intellectual property rights for the establishment of a regime which is conducive to the interest of the farmers and the industry

I am interested in cultivating all the 360 species of genus Elaeocarpus belonging to family elaeocarpaceae known in various parts of the world as Rudraksha(Asia),Blue Berry Ash(Australia & Newzealand),Silver Quandong (US & Europe), Blue Marble tree etc. I am particularly interested in the species Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb. for religious reasons. Can you supply the seeds of all these species, at least those found in your locality?
