Euro Fruits was set up in 1993 by Mr. Nitin Agrawal, managing director. It exports fresh table grapes from India to the European market. “The company is born out of my passion to make a mark in what was at that time a sunrise industry in which India seemingly had natural advantages,” avers Mr. Agrawal. “My father, Mr. Gopal Agrawal is the chairman of the company and Mr. Bharat Thosar, the director. Mr. Thosar has undergone formal training in fresh produce post harvest and cold chain management at the University of California, Davis,” he adds. The company is headquartered in Chembur, Mumbai

Certifications
Euro Fruits has Global GAP (Good Agricultural Practices), BRC (British Retail Consortium), ISO 22000 and IFS certification. According to Mr. Agrawal, the company implemented the following protocols and standards are implemented to get these certifications: * Produce Procurement Protocol * Traceability Protocol * Sampling Protocol * Residue Testing Protocol * SOP for Hygiene and Sanitation Management * SOP for Harvest Management, Produce Transportation, Grading * SOP for Post Harvest Process Management * SOP for Packhouse Management * SOP for Pre-cooling and Cold Stores Management * SOP for Loading and Dispatch

Export
Euro Fruits has been granted “Star Exporter” status by the government of India. “We market our grapes through our consignee agents based in Europe who on our behalf interact with supermarket buyers,” says Mr. Agrawal. The company procures fresh grapes from a group of 160 – 180 growers from Nashik and Sangli.

Speaking about the mission of the company, Mr. Agrawal says, “Euro Fruits’ mission is to promote controlled farm management practices producing table grapes of the highest quality and food safety standards.” Adding, “Euro Fruits always aspires to more than meet the ever demanding requirements of our supermarket buyers, who have reposed their trust in us for the past several seasons. We dedicate all our actions and efforts so that Euro Fruits continues to be known for its professional attitude and for being transparent.”

The company does not get the technical know-how from any foreign country.
