Beri Udyog Private Limited was incorporated in 1995. The company is headquartered in Karnal, Haryana. The company is engaged in the manufacturing of tractor drawn soil preparation agricultural implements including cultivators, harrows, ploughs, rotary tillers, sub-soilers, ridgers, reciprocating forage mowers etc. The promoters of the company are Mr. Ravi Beri, managing director, and his wife. “It was originally in 1978 that my father started a proprietary concern and I joined him in 1980,” says Mr. Beri.
The different products and services offered by the company are rotary tillers, spring loaded tillers, levelers, laser guided land levelers, cultivators (spring loaded & rigid), disc harrows, disc ploughs & ploughs, disc ridgers, sub-soilers, bund makers, scraper buckets, post hole diggers and reversible land levelers beside others. The manufacturing unit of the company is in Karnal (Haryana) and spread over an area of one acre.
When asked about the company’s customer base, Mr. Beri says, “We have retail customers in the farmers, domestic retailers and dealers and also overseas buyers. We export directly as well as through merchant exporters,” adding, “In domestic market, Madhya Pradesh gives us the highest revenue.” However, in the international market, Beri Udyog exports to countries in Africa, Europe and U.S.A.
When asked about competition from similar products from other manufacturers, Mr. Beri maintains, “Our products have an edge over others products offered in the market because of our superior quality and prompt after-sales services.”
Quality of Products
Speaking about quality of the products, Mr. Beri says, “We follow strict quality norms. We only sources components conforming to standard specifications as per ISI. We actively participate and oversee the manufacturing processes of our suppliers to ensure continuous supply of quality components,” adding, “Our R&D team is always active to act upon the suggestions for improvement in quality of the end product and its components. Complete fabrication has to pass through jigs and fixtures to ensure uniform sizes and interchangeability. Standby dies and fixtures ensure uninterrupted production and supply schedules.”
When asked about the turnover of the company, Mr. Beri says, “We are going to cross Rs. 20 crores this financial year and that means we will end up making 15000 standard units,” says Mr. Beri. The company has a total strength of about 70 people employed with it.
The company is also setting a new plant to further increase its production in future. Mr. Beri informs, “To build this plant we are likely to be allotted 4 acres of land by HSIIDC anytime now.” Mr. Beri is a post graduate in English literature. “I developed management acumen through on-the-work experience and extensive reading. My trips abroad gave me a lot of motivation to excel,” he says about his career milestones.
