Default Carbon Credits

Hi This is a news I came across recently

I am also looking for Carbon Credit Solutions in Farming, Trust this helps. If you come across any such info pl post info

Under the UN - Kyoto Protocol, there is an international decision to reduce carbon emmissions worldwide. Carbon surplus countries (those which create more pollution) can buy carbon credits from countries which have relatively less pollution.

India is a carbon credit deficit nation, and is allowed to sell its excess carbon credits to other nations. Currently companies like Tata Steel, Gujarat Ambuja, and Jindal Steel already sell carbon credits to the Japanese Government.

To be able to sell carbon credits, and earn extra from their property, a farmer can grow the following types of trees:
Eucalyptus, Pathimukham, Sandalwood, Teak, Hilanthars, Jetropha, Mango, Amla, Sapota, Jackfruit, and Tamarind.

Once the plant reaches to a height of 5 feet, we will measure the carbon intake of the plantation on a per acre basis. The rates for carbon credits are currently Rs. 5000 - Rs. 25000 per acre. Earnings for farmers can start from 1-3 years of plantation.

The Carbon Credits are available to those farmers who are planning new planting only. This is not available for existing plantations.

The purchase of the saplings has to also be through a certified vendor/ nursery.

At present we do have such an agency. You are also free to contact other nurseries in your area to find out if there is an approved source close to you.

We are based of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, doing organic agriculture in any manner should be certified by a certifying agency. That certifying agency is APEDA(Agriculture Products Export Developement Authority)it is based in Bangalore. In any other way doing organic farming is waste.Because you cannot get certification that is valued internationaly.for further information leave me a private message.
