Default Suitabel Crops

REspected Sir,
I am having a red loamy soil. Here water is available plentily. But I am facing one great problem. When I done soil analysis at my farm land I found the pH is more than 8.5 in my farm land. I am worrying what to do? People are telling that I cant cultivate any crops. Actually I purchased this land to cultivate Mango, Guava, Papaya, Sweet Lime and Banana. Please let me know what to do? I have to leave the land like that or can I cultivate any fruit crops? What are the suitbale fruit crops or field crops? Please advise me. Is there any list of crops suitable for this high alkaline soils? Is htere any books or publications to know about the suitbale crops? How to reduce the pH content.? Please advi ce me ane help me. To identfy the suitbale crops any information u required? My lands are in Guntur District.

Dear Mr.Abdul Razak, Aslamalekum. Well answer to your question is nothing to worry about your PH. It is only .5 % is more. Please contact your nearest Agriculture university and contact any one who M.Sc ( Horti) with a PHd will be able to give you a correct answer. I think this is not a big problem. Talk to the agricultural university and the problem will be solved by getting their advise and implment it immedieately.

Thanks and Regards,

Default Do not Worry.

Just do not worry. what you are considering as a problem is not a problem at all. God (NATURE) is great. Just do one thing. Use cow dong and Cow Urine as soil enrichers as directed by Mr Subhash Palekar a visionary and strong supporter of Natural Farming. He has advised to use both these things in the form of JEEVAMRUT. If interested I shall post you all the details on this site only. With this you can grow whatever you wish to grow in this soil.
Best luck.

Dear Mr Razak,
what the total area, what is the pH of water available for irrigation, what is the EC of water and soil.what is the source of water, tank, open well, bore sell, canal or small river.
I think you have not tested pH and EC of soil and water in all the corners. Is there any white powder on soil when it dries up.
You can grow many crops profitably

I think if your area is large say above 25 or 50 acres you can fix up an appointment with a consultant who can survey your soil and water.
He can advice you on crop and crop mix and practices to be followed so that the ph does not increase. There are some other test also required to know sodium levels.

If your area is 25 acres and above I can visit you place test soil and water and advice you on crop, cost of project profitability. But you should have good farm managing people and absenty landlord will not pay.
I will be charging you for this complete work Rs 25000/-. For specific details you can call me.

Dear Mr. Abdul Razak,
many thanks for your reply. I appreciate your efforts in sending your reply instead of simply keeping quite it has given me a feed back.
Now It is always advisable not to quote price on this blog site for the services/consultancy as people will simply compare cost and not the content as it has happend.
The price quoted by me is just 50% of the market price for the services I have thought of for you.
My services included were soil and water testing, deciding suitable crop, working out viability in full and prepare a feasibility report, plan for any processing and also give a thought for composite farming all leading to atleast 25% return by IRR method. In my experience of 25 years I have not seen anybody doing this in real way. I have got appreciation from many on this website itself after they have spent their money with some. the reasons is I have exposure not only to horticulture but also to financing for large projects.
Anyway sooner or later you will realise that the cost paid by you in rupees terms although is small, it is costly effectiveness wise.

With best wishes
anil patil
