8th Nutra India Summit – from 12th to 16th March 2013
The summit begins in Mumbai and organised by the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), The International Society for Nutraceuticals, Naturals and Nutritionals (ISNNaN) and MM Activ Sci-Tech Communications. The theme for this year is “Health & Wellness through Nutraceuticals, Nutritionals and Naturals”. The Summit witnesses participation from different countries (around 20), around 70 exhibitors and 65 industry leaders, speaking on the innovative trends in the nutraceutical industry. This event brought together industry captains, scientists, policymakers, and academicians from the world of nutraceuticals, nutritionals and naturals providing them with the huge platform to meet and collaborate.

Himalaya Drug Company – Enters Oral Herbal Toothpastes
The company is planning to launch a range of herbal toothpastes through distribution expansion, innovative marketing campaigns, implement customer engagement programs and encouraging trials and sampling. The oral care market in urban India is valued at around Rs 4,000 crore and is growing at about 19 per cent per annum. Of this, approximately Rs 3,500 crore is the toothpaste category.
Reconstituted Medicinal Plant Board in Goa
Goa Govt. has recently reconstituted the Medicinal Plant Board. The board will help local farmers aware of the different medicinal plants available in Goa. The board is also working on picking plants that farmers can cultivate and identify markets for it outside the state.
Eco Vastra Fabric - Ancient technique of dyeing textiles using medicinal herbs and plants
The Eco-Vastra fabric is developed by Eco Green Unit, a service trust of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. The roots, flowers, leaves, seeds and barks are used to make herbal dyes and each dye combination will contain 40-60 specifically blended and carefully prepared medicinal herbs and plants. As per sources, the skin absorbs the herbs used in the Eco-Vastra fabric which releases their medical qualities in the body and strengthens the skin’s ability to block and resist harmful substances.
Contract Farming Project of Pippali (Piper longum) – Dabur and Odisha Hort. Development Society
Dabur Company would set up a developmental-cum-demonstration site to give push for cultivation of Pippali in the State with the support of Odisha Hort. Development Society (OHDS). The Society has signed MoU with the company for the promotion of contract farming in the state.
