Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) is a wonderful dietary supplement used for over 1500 years as a sweetener and for medicinal purposes. Since the 1970's, stevia has been used in Japan as the main alternative to sugar, used instead of the banned aspartame in diet soda, gum and other food and beverages. Stevia is also being used as a sweetener in other countries after extensive studies proved its safety. Stevia has been used with success to treat many ailments including diabetes, high blood pressure, gingivitis, digestion ailments, and addictions, topically for acne and other skin ailments and also as a wonderful weight loss aid. Safe for diabetics as it does not raise blood sugar!
Stevia provides several advantages over sugar and artificial sweeteners when used in food production. These include: Lower costs for transportation, storage/warehousing and handling charges:

As stevia is 300 times sweeter than sugar, 1 kilogram of stevia extract can replace 300 kilograms of sugar, resulting in significant savings. Existing customers have been able to save at least 20% of their production costs.

Stevia Biotech had already launched Liquid, Sachets and Tablets in Stevialife range of products we are also contemplating introducing Stevialife in Toothpaste and Mouthwash.

The product is being imported from Japan from a Biotechnology major where it is manufactured by a state of art plant in Bio Technology. Stevialife effort is to diligently work toward bringing down the price difference that exists between natural & artificial sweetener.

More and more farmers shall take to Stevia Cultivation and grow it commercially.

Q. : What is the world scenario and potential for Stevia in India and abroad?
A. : The diabetic population has been rising steeply since the last decade. As a result, the market for a natural , low calorie sweetener has witnessed exponential growth. Brands like Sugarfree and Equal are the leading players in India. However the researchers has experienced that sustained use of aspartame based products could be harmful in longer run. Thus the latest need was to have natural product with no side effect, proven by the people across the globe
The Stevia plant has a long history of safe usage. It has received government approval in over 20 countries, regulatory approvals for the use of stevia and steviosides as a food additive have been received in Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Australia, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Latin America. In USA and Canada, it is approved for use as a dietary supplement and is commonly found and sold in natural foods stores throughout the country also approved by WHO and petitions pending in many more countries.
We see the world market, it is about $ 500 million market of Stevia Sweetener, where Japan is the largest consumer with every year consumption of $200 million. Infect in Japan the artificial sweetener are banned. Therefore working on the same line, in India there is need to promote herbal sweetener Stevia. We are the first one to introduce Stevia in complete range of products in the market with ‘Stevialife’ brand. and hope that with the increase in awareness, the day would come when people will prefer herbal sweetener and discard chemical ones.
