Default Stevia Seed Issue

Dear Forum members

I see an adverisment for Stevia seeds on the home page of this website. As i know Stevia rebaudiana is self incompatible, hence has to be crossed for seed set. Seeds would hence result in a seggregating population, unless breeding is controlled.

Secondly our experience is that viability of seed is very low at 6-8%

Thirdly we will have to select for best performers and mutiply vegetativly to start a planation, resulting in 3 years of excercise.

This is our experience. I request other mebers to share their views and experience or knowledge on Botany of stevia seeds

Regards
