CAUTION: Hydroponics Training

I wish to caution those planning to venture into HYDROPONICS! It is a VERY EXPENSIVE method of farming and totally unsuitable for Indian conditions. IT IS DEFINITELY NOT A SOLUTION FOR INDIAN FAMERS and for poverty alleviation. There are several misleading blogs and course being published on the internet - WATCH OUT - you could be in for a RUDE SHOCK! I learned the hard way...

I went through your blog/story. You mention that “we were not shown a single plant that was grown by Mr. C.V. Prakash” but there are so many pictures of plants grown by the institute? I just wanted to make sure you are not taking out your personal grudge in a public forum. One has to understand that anybody willing to provide training in any field is doing so because they are not good enough to do it themselves. Hydroponics is not easy. Even here in the US with readily and cheaply available hardware like ph/PPM meters and nutrients it takes a lot of time and patience to master the art.

I went through a lot of pain myself learning Aeroponics. I was using bad quality nutrients that required the tap water PPM to be below 70 PPM. My tap water was about 300 PPM! I had to switch the nutrient solution and increase the size of my reservoir to prevent wild ph swings.

All I am trying to say here is that Hydroponics is not like driving a car. You go to driving school and in a few weeks become a driver. It is for this reason I opened a yahoo group for likeminded people to share their experiences and help ease the learning curve.
