Ridiculously priced land in the Nilgiris

I have been trying to purchase about 1 to 2 acres of land in the Nilgiris, preferably around Kotagiri. The prices are ridiculously high for place. I did live there for 10 years sometime ago and would like to live there, but I dont want to encourage the greedy agents or land owners who are spoiling the serenity of the place. The land is being sold to people who have the money to pay crores of rupees for an acre in a remote part of the region. They do not realise that they will not be able to get their money back on the land as ther is no infrastructure to build communities likein the major metros of the country. It is cheaper to buy property in one of the cities in the plains AND make money on it in the short term. Tourism is one thing and locking up the place by land grabbers is another.
