SRIJAN is a national level grassroots development organization working in 3 states of the country. SRIJAN has over 55 professionals working at eight field locations in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka. SRIJAN has interests in water management, rural livelihoods, and community managed agri-based group enterprises. We promote people’s institution appropriate to the situation such as, women’ savings and credit groups, water user groups, agriculture co-operatives and producers’ companies, to fulfill these objects.
To enrich its water-based interventions, SRIJAN plans to undertake horticulture programme at three of its field locations in Madhya Pradesh. Development of horticulture would also include forward integration with market through value addition. To implement these interventions, SRIJAN seeks a motivated and enthusiastic Horticulture post-graduate. The Project Executive will be responsible for developing Horticulture for small and marginal farmers as a remunerative crop option. S/he will involve himself/herself intensely with the community. Job may require setting up nurseries, training the farmers and on-field demonstrations and monitoring of horticulture plots. However, the role will not be limited and may extend to other interventions of the organization.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate/s will be a postgraduate in horticulture sciences with about 2-3 years of relevant grassroots implementation experience. Candidate/s will have had hands on experience of promotion of cultivation of horticulture crops like papaya, mango, sweet lime (mousambi), aonla etc with the poor farmers. They must be result-oriented and team players ready to take on challenges. Post-graduates of Agriculture in disciplines other than Horticulture may be considered on merit of the case. Relaxation in experience may also be given to exceptional candidates.
