“The use has been permitted only after thorough reviews, the particular pesticide does not pose harmful effect under the conditions of use in our country,” the minister of state for chemicals and fertilisers BK Handique told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply. He also informed that the use of these pesticides is banned/restricted in one, two or few countries while their use is permitted in some other countries of the world. The minister said that there are 12 pesticides restricted for use in India, which includes Endosulfan, which is banned in Kerala and monocrotophos, banned from use on vegetables.

In 2006, the World Health Organization suggested the resumption of the limited use of DDT to fight malaria.[4] They called for the use of DDT to coat the inside walls of houses in areas where mosquitoes are prevalent. Dr. Arata Kochi, WHO's malaria chief, said, "One of the best tools we have against malaria is indoor residual house spraying. Of the dozen insecticides WHO has approved as safe for house spraying, the most effective is DDT."Scientists estimate that DDT and other chemicals in the organophosphate class of pesticides have saved 7 million human lives since 1945 by preventing the transmission of diseases such as malaria, bubonic plague, sleeping sickness, and typhus.

Nitrobeneze

It is pity to find that Nitrobenzene one of the human carcinogen is being used indiscriminately in India as Bio Product/Organic fertilizers. Is there any organisation who could crack on these quack products which poses huge thread to human life. It is pathetic that most of the food consumers in India consume these carcinogen sparyed Vegetable.
