Question Need cultivation information for casuarina (savukku)

Hi Guys!
I need some information on casuarina (savukku). I am planning to plant casuarina saplings in my farm for fensing purposes.

What would be an optimum density of planting? One of the sapling suppliers suggested that I go for 1000 saplings for every meter. (Planted in three rows of 333 saplings each). Can somebody tell me if this is okay?

I planning to use drip irrigation for the first six months of planting. Any suggestion on how much water would be needed per day per sapling or per 1000 saplings?

What price is idle? the supplier quoted Rs. 150 for 1000 saplings

what other things should I keep in mind?

Visit your local TN forest extension centers. They used to provide the saplings for free. They used to provide subsidy to some extend if your trees / plantation is along the road side (visible to public).

Atleast in Coimbatore dt we have had a very good experience with the forest extension office.
