Default Coconut plantations - info reqd

I would like to develop a coconut plantation and would require expert opinion of the members of this forum on coconut plantation. I am assuming that hybrids will offer more yields, faster gestation / flowering. My queries are; Which variety / breed / hybrids
  1. Is the fastest flowering breed / variety [in years / months]
  2. Is the maximum fruit / coconut yielding variety breed

Also, based on your suggestions, please recommend spacing between trees and maximum number of trees that can be planted per acre. I also need your advice, should I go for an intercropping, what horticultural crops can I go for?

I look forward to your expert opinion and views

Regards

P S KRISHNAN

Dear Kirti,

Our farm is located in Karwar, Karnataka and it is 30 kms away from the arabian sea. I have heard that the tender coconut hybrid varieties starts giving yield after 3 years whereas the normal tall vairiety gives yield only after 7 years. We are yet to decide on the variety, can you please guide us on this.

Thanks & Best Regards,
Rayees

Interested to know the same as well. Our farm is not in coastal region but quite a few coconut trees grow in surrounding farms. Good water source, though.

I have heard the same regarding tender coconut. Any expert listening (and willing to help) ??
