Default teak wood trees

I want to plant teakwood trees around the fence of my 5 acre farm land. Please advise whether this gives good return . Does it require lot of water? which type of teakwood tree gives good return. I read in the forum that teakwood tree gives very very less return. Is it true?

Smile Your Query

Go for Mahagony small leaves variety.

Proper guidence in any Agricultural venture never gives bad returns but Agriculture is not a subject to be handled only with mere bookish knowledge. So why the failures are taking places.

Consider below trees as well.

a. African Mahagony
b. Kumil
c. Malai Vembu

These are fast growing and drought resistant (after a year atleast).

Contact your local TN forest extension dept for more details.

Thanks,
Shafi

Dear Sir
The place where I have land is located in Karnataka, 180 KM northwest of Bangalore,( near Hiriyur ). The climate is dry generally, but there is good water available in the borewell.
The soil is brownish with rock sediments, but soft. Please let me know what is the best type of trees that I can cultivate.

Dear Sir

Teak wood will give good returns but ull have to spent so many years in waiting for the actual yiels. Y dont u think of cultivating flower, medicinal crops also.
