Default Great

I was surprised to see this post. It is interesting that people in USA are thinking of setting up Dairy and Goat farms in India and more importantly eliminating the middle men.
Middle men are the bane of the system and we should think of better supply chain management systems along with better production techniques.
Right now I am in USA and will be moving to India in the very near future. I am educating myself in these techniques and visiting farms. My family has recently set up a small Dairy farm near Hyderabad. It has its own challenges and we are learning as we go. I am now interested in setting up a Goat Farm.
If any one who has done this successfully could share their experience, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have Immense Interest for going for the commercial goat farm and a dairy farm in INDIA, hyderabad in a very near future.

Right now i am in USA , getting some ideas and lessons reg, i have visited some of the goat farms in USA, they prosper collectively, and are able to control the meat-market because they have their association, and many of their problems and hardships are solved very easily coz, they help each other, hence they all prosper and do good progress, they share the breedings of real 100% BOAR GOATS & many other rear-species etc.

WE can read many of the problems of our friends here in this forum, have problems of marketting goats (IN A COUNTYR LIKE INDIA,where we have full demand of goatmeat and the population of human is the 2nd highest in the world),in- availability of good vets, healthy food and fodder etc x etc.
our markets r controlled by middlemen, we should try to elliminate those blood-suckers(DALLALS),which is a very-old idea IT BENEFITTS THE MIDDLEMAN / BUTCHERS,,,,, AND THE POOR FARMER IS JUST POOR.

I would like to request all, who r already indulged in goat-farmings,please do not sell your goats per piece . sell them according to their weight which will benefit you all.Change the old-practice which benefitted the dallals and the butchers,.
The main benefitts should be to the actual farmers, who puts all his efforts in this goats, which will not harm to the consumers, but the real-profits will be in the pockets of the ultimate farmers, and NOT with middleman & butchers.
JUST say NO-NO to the MIDDLEMAN.
thank you. keep in touch. tc

Default Commercial Goat Rearing In Orissa

Dear All,

I feel finding this site and this community here is a blessing in disguise. I have been "googling" and running from pillar to post to find any kind of goat farm in the organised sector in Orissa.

A lot of info is available on the net but getting info from experienced people in this field is a real need.

I have started planning for a 500-1000 heads goat farm in Orissa and have already taken land on lease for the same. However the limitation for such a farm in South East Orissa is that only black bengal breed is preferred, even the govt. farms have a total of say 300 heads and they also breed black bengal breeds...though they have tried cross breeding wth australian boer breed...this is yet in the trial and error stage.

Could anybody give me information on how to start the project where the limitation is only one breed and also lack of any other farm to see.

South India I feel has more farms in the organised sector.

Looking forward to replies from all you people out there.

Regards
Madhur
