Question Move from IT to Agri

Hello all - I am currently in the IT industry and sick of the corporate way of working. I have no experience in farming nor do I own any farm lands. Please help me with the following queries:
1. Can I earn additional farm income without sacrificing my current job? If this is possible, what options do I have?
2. If I have to shift completely to farming, where shoud I start as I have no clue?
3. What are the sources - govt agencies/internet - for me to get more info?

Thanks in advance

First of all do not shift completely from IT ( the existing field) to a new field such as agri; migrate step-by-step. Agri is a vast subject, including vet, beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, cericulture etc. You first find out your field by consulting with experts and experienced farmers. Start at the low level then expand. If you willing to buy a farm land buy at a distance less than 30-50kms from your residence. The land should have road approach, irrigation facility, power etc. Remember patience will pay in agriculture and peace of mind is bonus. Also note that do not expect much income from agri like IT.

I am in Hyderabad. There are numerous ads for farm land sale - how should one evaluate? What agencies can help me?

Dear Sir

The idea of switching on from it to agri is not bad but mind boggling. do u have ur own agri land, or do u have enough finanace for the same. i suggest u to keep patience and continue with ur job till the ur crops give fruits. u may hire or employ a agri graduate for u in ur farm who will do work on ur behalf. i will surely help u.

hello,
Corporate style differs from Co to Co ,anyway govt style is almost same everywhere so while shifting from IT to Agri related activity pl see to it that you DO NOTdepend on schemes & subsidied !

1. Can I earn additional farm income without sacrificing my current job? If this is possible, what options do I have?>
Developing software usefull farms ,farming related activities

2. If I have to shift completely to farming, where shoud I start as I have no clue?>
REGULARLY Visit few friends doing farming ,it would help to take dicission

3. What are the sources - govt agencies/internet - for me to get more info?

Maybe KVK's of local area? not sure .......local Agri university can surly help with theory & may be practical toooo

ManyThanks,
