TERI Press Releases Organic Cookbook at The Park
New Delhi, Delhi, India, Friday, August 08, 2008 -- (Business Wire India) TERI Press, the publishing arm of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in collaboration with The Park releases its latest offering - The Original Organics Cookbook: recipes for healthy living authored by Chef Kuntal Kumar in the capital today. The author, after exploring the joys of organic food and experimenting with various recipes has come up with a recipe book, which is more than just another cookery book. Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General, TERI and Chairman, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Mr Ajay Jadeja, former member of the Indian cricket team unveiled the book as the guest of honour and chief guest respectively. Some noted dignitaries like Dr Maxine Olson, Resident Representative, UNDP graced the occasion along with other esteemed guests. The event was hosted at Fire – The Park Hotel, the Indian specialty restaurant. The main highlight of the evening was the live cookout by Chef Kuntal who whipped up two delicacies making use of pristine organic ingredients brought from the herb farm developed and managed by TERI at Mukteshwar, Uttarakhand. Expressing his views on the launch of the book, Dr R K Pachauri said, “What we consume as food reflects our physical well-being and sensitivity, particularly in relation to how the food chain affects the environment. We at TERI are dedicated to the pursuit of sustainable development and protection of the earth’s natural resources and support the promotion of food and eating habits that are based on organic cultivation and processing.” Chef Bakshish Dean, Executive Chef, The Park, said, “We have been serving organic food in our specialty outlet, 'Fire' over the past five years. This is an initiative taken by our Chairperson Ms Priya Paul who is very particular about health and nutrition. Organic food is basically about a healthier lifestyle. There has been a constant endeavour on the part of the hotel to promote healthy eating through various mediums. By launching this book on organic food in our unit, we are supporting what we truly believe in.’ The Original Organics Cookbook is a unique explication of the art and science of whipping up everyday as well as exotic recipes from organic and herbal ingredients.
