Since demand for organic products increases rapidly in Turkey, producers are competing to introduce their own products. Sade Organik is a key player in the market. The company has taken an initiative to produce organic meat and milk as well as fruit and vegetables within the upcoming three years. So far, they have packaged and sold items from 85 producers. Tek Organik increased its turnover by 30 % last year. The company plans to grow with concept by putting organic stores in the domestic market. They will also increase their production and packaging capacity to meet the demand from abroad, reports the Turkish Daily News. The company Ufo has imported 150,000 fruit saplings, aiming at exporting organic fruit chips within three years. Ufo intends to invest $ 30 million in the sector within the next five years. Istanbul-based Ambar Ekolojik ve Doðal Ürünler - in cooperation with foreigners - plans the production of some items that have not been produced in Turkey yet. Demak has three organic stores named “Ecolife.” The company earned YTL 2 million (1,05 million) last year and aims to increase turnover to YTL 3 million (1,58 million) this year. Germany’s Rapunzel Naturkost's subsidiary Rapunzel Türkiye plans to invest € 1 million this year. The company grew by 25 % in 2007 and aims to grow by 26 % annually. Turkish Daily News - Aug 02, 2008
