I don't think black turmeric cultivation is prohibited. There could be (but I highly doubt it) restrictions on harvest from the wild, or on transport and sale.
The forests of MP have this herb, so you may be able to get planting material from State Forest Research Institute, Jabalpur, MP State Forest Research Institute Polipathar, Jabalpur (M.P.) 482008 Phones : 91-761-2665540, 2666529, 2669035 Email : sfrimp@mp.nic.in, dsfri995@sancharnet.in State Forest Research Institute ( An autonomous institute of Forest Department, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh) If you are able to get this herb, please post any updates to this forum. Thanks, HM |

Black turmeric is under critically endangered species list in forest departments. Hence its sale is prohibited in the white market. Its collection from the wild is strictly prohibited. Black turmeric marketing needs legal certification from the forest department. The suppliers of black turmeric rhizomes are very rare in India.
