Default Chattisgarh and intelligent tribes in biofuels....

Most of us do know something about the Mohua seeds and its oil but many of us may not know that the flowers of Mohua could be a very good source for Biofuel Industry.

The tribes in Chattisgarh and few parts of Orissa are brewing this flower for their alcholic arrack sice many hundred years, and certainly fueling their stomach instead of making use of this alcohol for a better use like energy.

I think its time for the State Govts to legalise the use of Mohua in making ethanol which could be less than Rs20/liter if made from Mohua.

I have interacted with many forest officials since last one month and hope there could be a one big distillation unit soon this year.
After all, we need to encourage the tribes to be more advanced in this energy sector particularly from Mohua.

I just wanted to share my experience here knowing fully well the presence of many members interested in this forum in this subject.

Default Biofuels

Dear Badrinath
Its a very good suggetion.Mahua flowers are produced in large quantities in parts of UP,MP, CG and Orrisa and it is mainly cosumed for making alkoholic drinks by tribals and others in villages in most parts of north and central India.Use of flowers for biofuel will certainly help in improving the economic status of those involved in the collection and processing, mainly tribals, and become a viable source of their livelyhood. Otherwise middlemen involved in the trde are being benefitted more than those engaged in the collection.
