Poultry farm detail

Dear Friend,

For 5000 broiler poultry farm you required minimum of 20 feet x 250feet shed, it may cost you some thing around 4 lac and equipment cost is around 1 lac, the water required for 5000 birds is 500 litrs per day for 15 days and up to 3000 ltrs per day after 15 days.

Expenditure and Profit from poultry farm of 5000 birds.

If you make agriment with some company like Suguna, thay will give 5 batches per year and and 2.5 rupees per KG. In average for 40 days the hen weigh about 2 KG.
i.e, 5000 birds x 2 Kg/bird x 2.5 rupee = 25000 / batch +5000 manure = 30000
Expanditure per batch is around 10,000 rupees(includes labour)
Total profit per batch is Rs 20,000/-

If you are doing by own than expanditure for 5000 birds is around 5 lac per batch and you can earn as per market price( that is vary, to day prise is 70 )
As per todays rate you can earn around 3 to 4 lac per batch.

Unlike tieup /w Suguna, I am willing to setup my own poultry farm.

Need more info from you, to setup poultry of 5000 birds, the investment you mentioned was 5 (including equipment cost) lakhs.

Is the below expenses are assumed/covered in the suggested investment of 5 lakhs ? Pls advise.

1) Investment applicable to Andhra Pradesh ?
2) How about onetime cost such as "farm construction cost" ?
3) How about recurring/monthly labor cost ?
4) How about monthly maintenance cost (e.g. medicine cost, electricity, generators, food for chicks etc.,)

Dear Mr Srinivas,

1) If the material cost in Andhra is same as in Karnataka than it is holds good.

2) That is what the farm construction cost is around 4 lac.

3) You can pay the labour batch wise like for a 5000 bird farm you can pay 5000 as labour for 40 days.

4) Medicin, feeds and other maintainence cost is 5 lac per batch it is separate per batch. For your clarification if you are spending 5 lac you are earning 8 lac, that is profit is around 3 lac.

thanks for the very informative responses.

Few questions:

It seems like companies like Suguna would have restrictions on number of batches per year, example 6. And a gap of about 15 days between batches.

If someone intends to have 3-4 5000 sq ft sheds, then is it possible to have different batches in them that are staggered.

Example:

Shed A - 5000 birds - week 1/month
Shed B - 5000 birds - week 2/month
Shed C - 5000 birds - week 3/month
Shed D - 5000 birds - week 4/month

That way a poultry farmer would have more batches from his land and more consistent income. If farmer plans to adopt above plan, then would there be any criteria about how far the sheds should be from each other. Any other tips that would make such a concept possible.

Also what is the best way to poultry farm on your own then use companies like C&M or Suguna ? Seems like Suguna only has a "All in All out" concept. ie 5000 batches in at one time and out at one time about 35 days.

If doing poultry on own then:

-where to buy the chicks from ?
-where to buy the feed from ?
-where to buy the medications ?
-Arrange for Vet inspections, if needed
-where and how to sell the mature chicken ?
-how to determine the best prevailing market price ?

Also, I know of Suguna and C&M, are there other companies that have similar models and who pay better ?
