Default How Capsicum cultivation in SHADENET?

    Polyhouse allows Light Inside.
    Shadenets reduce the Light Inside.

    So what applies for Capsicums?

Does the Green Variety Require Light or Not?
Does the Colored Variety Require Light or Not?

Can knowledgeable people shed light on this question, please.

    Thanks and Regards.

    Dear Sir

Low cost naturally-ventilated polyhouses offer a great scope to raise capsicum for round the year supply in the mild winter climatic areas of India. Soil: FYM: Sand (2:1:1), irrigation regime of 20 kPa, fertigation with water soluble fertilizers at the rate of 250 kg/ha NPK and use of black polythene mulch is most suitable for off-season production of capsicum.

Green capsicum : Production of green capsicum under polyhouse condition yields about 30 times more than the open field conditions. Production of green capsicum under polyhouse in paired row planting technique at the spacing 45 cm between plants and 30 cm between rows with a pathway of 45 cm between pair is recommended to get higher yield. Open field cultivation of green capsicum is not feasible due to adverse weather conditions for crop growth.

Coloured capsicum :Production of coloured capsicum under polyhouse conditions give promising yield and good quality. Application of water soluble fertilizers through drip at the rate 280 kg N, 30 kg P, 415 kg K, per hectare is recommended which gives capsicum yield of more than 85 t/ha in polyhouse. Saving in fertilizer is about 20 % over the recommended dose.
