I am intrested in cutivation of orchids at Dharwad, which is located in North West of karnataka on NH-4 about 420 Kms away from both Bangalore and Poona. Agroclimatic profile of Dharwad is as follows: Altitude 750 meters, Average rain fall rate is 838 mm, Average temp 15C to 36C, Relative Humedaity 13.4 to 88, I am curios to know whether climatic condition is suitable for orchid cultivation, if so which vareity or species would be ideal, what may be minimum cultivation area for commercial productions, what are requirements and possible investment, and availability of near by market areas, any agency/NGO who can provide technical support, major risk associated with cultivation process. I will be very glad to receive information, which would help me in taking up the initiative.
