Management of Floricultural Production - Tailor Made for the Indian Market

The goal of the Floricultural Training Programme is to provide good ideas for the improvement of Cut Flower and Potted Flowering Plant production and processing.
The programme will focus on two main issues:
Agro technologies for Flower Production
Agribusiness Cooperative Management
New technologies can greatly enhance crop production, both for in-country consumption and for export. It is well known that a computerised irrigation system is a far more efficient although more expensive method. Lighting the greenhouse is the only way to get quality flowers at specific times geared to when the auction price is higher. The small farm generally does not have funds for expensive post harvesting management therefore this is one of the reasons for creating a cooperative. Cooperatives have a crucial role in the efficiency of the production-marketing chain, especially for exporting, as they are of great benefit to the small farmer.
The phrase “agriculture as a business“ is now receiving a lot of attention and a great number of global projects and donor efforts are charged with turning this phrase into reality for countries where poverty alleviation is a major target.
OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING PROGRAMME
The participants will be exposed to new innovations in floricultural development, cooperation and agro technology in order to:
Acquire an in-depth perspective of floriculture in Israel
Learn about management of government and private cooperatives
Improve the flower production in their provinces by using agro technology
Increase the income of the small farmer by managing his farm as a business
