Mr.Vinodkumar,
Sandal is capable of growing in different kinds of soils like sandy, clay, lateric, loamy, block cotton etc., (avoiding water logged condition) even very poor and rocky soils can support sandal. The species grows in wide range of rainfall areas and can grow in low and high rain fall areas also. Except frost, all types of climates in India are suitable for sandal wood tree cultivation. Sandal prefers warm climate. A good tree can with stand prolonged drought too. Sandal wood trees are basically sun loving species, so high density is also not recommended. 8 feet x 8 feet spacing is ideal. Hence 676 plants can be accommodated in 1 acre. For rates please e-mail with quantity requirement. SUDHIR PAI Quote:

Sir,
Will it be suitable for black clay soil?. Any government regulation to cultivate the same?. If black clay soil is not suitable as an alternate we can consider red rocky soil (2 acres). Kindly advise sapling cost in my Private Message. Thanks. |

Dear All,
If sandlewood is so easily cultivated than why it has not been cultivated till now in entire country ? Is there any law forbidding its cultivation / it requires specific climatic condition/ ignorance of cultivation aspect ? If it could be grown easily than it could have been cultivated throughout the country so far. Regds Manoj Singh |
