Dear Tejaram,
Following are the methods of changing hard water into soft water:- i) Lime Soda Softening ii) Water Softener Water softener is cheaper as well as a convenient process to soften the hard water but only soft water cannot be recommended fit for drinking application. There are too many parameters present in water and hardness is only one of the parameters out of them. Therefore, for drinking water application all the excess minerals should be under the limit as per IS10500. Reverse Osmosis plants can be installed for the treatment of water for drinking water application but if the total mineral content is under limit as per the drinking water standard then TDS < 500ppm then water can be treated with simple cartridge filters of 10 microns followed by UV treatment can be recommended for drinking as per IS 10500. The cost of the plant can only be decided after selection of treatment plant and the water analysis is must for selection of the treatment. Regds Manoj Singh |
