Re:Buffaloes
It is true that the best dairy buffaloes like Murrah and Nili Ravi are found in India but all the dairy farmers in India know that they are not easily available and the reliability of animal and its true potential are often hard to guess before purchase of animal.Posted 3 Weeks Ago at 04:01 PM by prateekvaish

How to make large profits on a dairy farm
Re:Buffaloes
Dear All,
Buffaloes can be broadly classified into 2 groups:-
a) River / water buffaloes
b) Swamp Buffaloes
The milch breeds of buffaloes are
a) Murrah (Found in Western UP, Haryana and Punjab)
b) Nili Ravi (Found near the banks of Ravi river at Punjab)
c) Mehsana (Found in mehsana area of Gujrat)
d) Jafrabadi (Found in Gujrat)
e) Bhadawari (found in UP along the ban ks of river Yamuna).
Out of above mentioned breeds Murrah, Nili Ravi and Jafrabadi are highest milk producers. Bhadavari has highest fat % (up to 14%).
On the balanced score card based on milk, fat, lactation period, breeding effciency, dairy temperament, longivity and adaptability Murrah outscores all other breeds.
Murrah is certainly the best dairy buffalo of the world and is exported from india to many countries like italy, bulgaria, UAE etc.
Good murrah buffaloes are not in abundence in haryana, punjab or UP as 95% of the stock in markets are of Murrah crosses i.e. graded murrah.
Pure murrah buffaloes are available at good breeding farms of UP, Haryana and Punjab. Very soon i will elaborate on how to select a good dairy buffalo.
Pls comment in case you find this information useful.Posted 3 Weeks Ago at 03:59 PM by prateekvaish
