Blessing in Disguise ?????????

I agree with Lucky in thanking the owners of this wonderful site meant for dissemination of information amongst people who are interested in doing activities/business related to agriculture.

I am equally thankful to Mr. Lucky for posting this topic as I also did see a lot of things which I felt should be mentioned & brought to everyone’s notice.

I am new member (from April 08) to this site & involved in Dairy Farming Business (advising people how to improve productivity thereby Profitability & Returns on the investment & taking Projects on Turnkey basis as well as).

I would like to share some of my experiences. I did take up interest in responding to the questions after seeing that the people who asked knew almost nothing & those who replied were either a new player or a theoretical person quoting from articles released by some other sites.

To help the people interested in Dairy farming situation in India; I also did put up 3 blogs viz……

• Dairy Farming in India …. (04-30-2008)
• Dairy Farming; myths & facts…. (04-25-2008)
• Dairy farming concepts.... (04-11-2008)

These were put specifically to give our members a lot you more idea about the situation of Dairy farming in India.
( On the home page you will see "Blogs" next to User CP & FAQ. Please do click on the same & then go to the respective titles.)

At the same time in a span of about 45 days I tried to answer each & every question related to dairy. It was utterly surprising that out of (around) 80 members I mailed to; only a handful few (7 to be precise) did come back to me saying they were interested.

Out of this 7 & I was shocked to see that ; 2 of the members were talking of Dairy Projects worth Rs.1.8 Crores & 2.5 Crores refused to talk about paying to anyone for the information & bluntly informed me that it should be free. Great, isn’t it?

The other 5 are still Thinking / Buying time / Evaluating Dairy business with other businesses etc, etc.

To me it seems that the Free exchange of information is ideal up to some extent in knowing, Finding out & evaluating the need as well the efficacy of the consultant therein. It is equally interesting to note that whole of India is full of self proclaimed Consultants: who give information for free which is good ( to what extent ? ) but the people asking should always ask Every Consultant these 5 questions before implementing any advise of the Consultant.

The five important questions are: How, what, when, where & why.

My earnest request to all the needy people is to ask & get yourself satisfied with all these 5 questions so that you can evaluate the Efficacy of the so called Consultant or Expert as the case maybe.

At the same time we also have to accept the fact that “There is no free lunch in the World” & everyone should be realistic about it.

If anyone is investing money in any business then he should be willing to PAY for learning the ropes.

Please feel free to ask any questions regarding Dairy farming to me & I will gladly answer to the best of your satisfaction.

With warm regards,

Dr. Chandrakiran N.Sant
