SUMMARY:
Directs all activities required for producing feed at optimal cost, on schedule and within acceptable quality criteria. Successful interaction with Transportation, Ingredient Procurement and Nutrition/QA is essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the financial performance of the department, including: preparing budgets, managing within budget constraints, preparing/approving capital requests and administering the salary plan.

Typical mill budget = $3—8 million

Typical mill volume = 8,000—18,000 tons/week

Establishes implements and monitors an effective preventive maintenance program. Assists in appropriate repair-versus-replace decisions.

Utilizes “Methos” or other approved maintenance management system to track costs and failure rates.

Strives to achieve best-of-class operating performance. Utilizes “benchmarking” databases such as Agri-Stats, Agrimetrics, and Murphy-Brown internal key process indicators

Provides performance data to management and focuses on continuous improvement.

Works with the transportation department to ensure right-feed/right-time.

Provides proper emphasis to feed quality and quality assurance sampling requirements.

Administers an effective safety program to ensure safe equipment, safe environment and polices/procedures that define safe work habits.

Develops employees to ensure career progression and adequate back-up personnel for key positions.

Operates the facility in full compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, i.e. OSHA, FDA, USDA, and DWQ. Trains and documents training in these areas for all employees.

Follows all guidelines set forth in Murphy-Brown committed programs: Environmental Management System (EMS), Animal Welfare Management System (AWMS), Biosecurity Management System (BMS), Pork Quality Assurance Management System (PQMS), etc. Trains and documents all employee training in these areas.

Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.

Works effectively with the procurement dept. to ensure adequate inventories of raw materials.

Establishes and maintains an effective inventory control program to achieve budgeted shrink targets.

Participates as a contributing team member, in appropriate company-wide meetings and training.

Actively develops, shares, and adopts agreed upon company-wide best practices.

Reports all environmental issues to supervisor immediately.

Reads and understands the company’s emergency notification process. Responsible for reviewing that policy at work site.

Performs other duties as defined by manager.

Im a Pr. Mech Engineer and has also completed my MBA with a accredited instituition. I have good knowledge in intergrated management system, and we have just been re-certified by DQS (Germany) in ISO 22000.
