I want to buy a farmland (approx 2 acres) for cultivating a special type of garlic. My grandfather was farmer and owned a considerably large farm land. On his death his children, including my father, jointly inherited that property. My father's name is on the 7/12. Now my father has expired. My question is: Is it necessary to have my name in the 7/12 of my family property, or I can get get farmer status on the basis of my father's and grand-father's farmer status without making such change in the exiting 7/12.
