    Promises bright future to students in agri sector

    VAMNICOM conceived as an intellectual nerve centre for the co-operative movement, has been functioning as an Apex Management Training Institute for over 50 years and catering to the management development through training, education, research and consultancy needs of various co-operative organizations, government departments and other national bodies. The institute is located on the University Road, Pune, Maharashtra.

    Objectives

    The objective of the National Institute is to facilitate building cadres of professional managers to man key positions in the ever growing number of co-operatives through management development, training, education, research and consultancy which includes to -

    · Improve the decision making skills and administrative competence of practicing managers in the co-operative sector.

    · Provide educational facilities for young men and women seeking career in management through the Post-Graduate Diploma in Management- Agri Business Management (PGDM- ABM), Post Graduate Diploma in Co-operative Business Management (PGDCBM) and Diploma in Computer Operations Management Programmes.

    · Assist organizations in solving their management problems by providing consultancy services.

    · Participate in and contribute to the formulation of policy for co-operatives.

    · Collaborate with other institutions in India and abroad to further its objectives.


    Faculty

    The academic strength of the institute lies in a team of highly qualified and dedicated core faculty. Most of the faculty members have vast experience both at the university and National level institutions on one hand as well as industry experience on the other. Besides, experts from the field are associated with the training programmes.


    Library and Information System

    The institute has a fairly well endowed, highly specialized and computerized library catering to the training, research and consultancy needs of the faculty members, students and research scholars with a total collection of about 48,000 books covering different disciplines. It also subscribes to over 500 Indian and foreign journals in the fields of co-operation, agriculture, economics, banking, marketing, human resource development, etc. The library is also linked to other libraries, enhancing the student access to a wide range of literature. There exists an air conditioned wing of the library accommodating around 40 researchers to facilitate a congenial and comfortable environment. Also there are four research scholars-cubicles available in the library.


    With the objective of empowering the co-operatives with professionalism in their management, institute envisages further diversification through the introduction of diploma programmes in several functional as well as sectoral areas. Diploma in Management of Computer Operation is already introduced. In a nutshell, the vision is to make institute “A Centre of Excellence” in its true sense.


    Academic Centers

    VAMNICOM has the following 6 centres:

    1. Centre for Cooperative Management (CCM),

    2. Centre for Management Education (CME),

    3. Centre for Information Technology (CIT),

    4. Centre for Research & Publication (CRP),

    5. Centre for Gender Studies (CGS)

    6. Centre for Training Information Services (TIS)


    These centres conduct short duration Executive/ Management Development Programmes for Senior/Top level Officials/Non-Officials of Cooperative Sector. Orientation training programmes are also organized for senior Government officers including Indian Forest Service Officers and the Chairmen and Managing Directors of National Level Cooperative Organizations. It conducts programme with collaboration with International Agencies/Organizations like ICA/ILO etc. Institute provides active support and guidance to the 14 State level ICMs and 5 RICMs through Faculty Development Programmes (ToT).


    NABARD Chair

    NABARD has established a chair from 2015 in the post of Professor.


    Diploma in Cooperative Business Management

    The Centre for Cooperative Management (CCM) conducts 36 weeks Diploma in Cooperative Business Management for the officials in Cooperative sectors. Even scholars of Asia and Africa also take advantage of this programme. 50th Batch is currently in session.


    Post Graduate Diploma in Management- Agri. Business and Management PGDM - ABM

    VAMNICOM has two years PGDM-ABM programme since 1993, conducted by the Centre for Management Education for the young graduates. PGDM-ABM is recognized by AICTE, GOI and recognized by Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to MBA Degree and received accreditation from National Board of Accreditation also.


    Research Activities

    Institute is also a centre for research and consultancy and publication. It is recognized centre for awarding of Doctorate Degree of Savthiribai Phule University in various disciplines of Economics, Management and Commerce. Institute has undertaken extensive projects for various Ministries, Cooperative Institutions and State Government.


    Over 100 research projects in various areas of Management sponsored by Central Government, State Government and Cooperative Institutions completed. Over 65 consultancy projects for computerization, systems audit, core banking, manpower recruitment & promotions.



    Management Development Programmes

    The faculty members identify training needs, design tailor made Programmes and conduct short duration Executive/ Management Development Programmes for Officers of the Cooperative Departments of the State Governments and Senior/Top level Officials/Non-Officials of Cooperative Sector. Besides, need based request Programmes are also designed and conducted at VAMNICOM campus and outside. Women faculty of the Institute conducts Short Term Training Programme for women Executives of Cooperative Banks / Organizations.


    Publication

    Institute publishes “Cooperative Perspective” Magazine quarterly which is an academic journal based on research work carried out in research fields. The journal has a wide circulation both National and International. In house magazine "Sahavidya" is an in house annual publication in Hindi.


    Centre of Information Technology


    Institute is also a Centre for Information Technology, to facilitate the students and participants. In all there are 102 personal computers in the institute with internet facility. This facility is available for the PGDM boys & girls hostel also. It has created a separate section - Information and Computer Maintenance, which gives better service to its users.


    The centre also maintains information kiosk in the Sahyadri Guest House and also TV screen display at the entrance and in the CME building, video conference facility and also the national knowledge network.


    The Institute has launched Diploma in Management of Computer Operations (DMCO) in the year 2010 and has successfully conducted five batches. This is an exclusive Diploma and first of its kind in the country. The contents of the Diploma are based on actual requirements of cooperative institutions like banks, sugar factories and dairy cooperatives and therefore, will go a long way in systematic implementation of computerization to achieve expected results through computerization. The Course curriculum of this Diploma would help the participating staff/officers to shoulder the challenging responsibility of IT Security, Data Base Administration etc. This Diploma is approved by NCCT, New Delhi.



    Centre for Training Information Services

    Institute has a Centre for Training Information Services which provides support services to all the centres for conducting Short Term programme effectively and also submission of Information to NCCT and various organisations. The centre also conduct need based/On-the spot programme as per the requirement of user organization and with National/International delegates visiting the Institute.

    Management of VAMNICOM

    The management of VAMNICOM vests with a NI Committee consisting of representatives of Government of India, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, National Cooperative Union of India and other apex level Federations. Day to day administration is done by the Director with the support of Registrar, Assistant Registrar and Accounts Officer.
